If there are two questions we get asked a lot as professional chefs, it might just be…

Do you like cooking at home?

When you eat out, where do you go?

Well, the truth is that we love cooking at home because there’s just no way around it–we think we cook most things better than we can get them anywhere else!

But sometimes (just like all of you), we like to let someone else do the cooking. But with so many eateries featuring far too much butter, salt, sugar, and who knows what else in their cooking–we can be pretty picky.

And don’t even get us started on flavor…

So to sate your curiosity–we came up with a round-up of some of our favorite Miami restaurants we think anyone (local or tourist alike!) should check out. Consider it a Miami bucket list of must-eats.

Miami Bucket List: Where The Chefs Eat!

CHEF LIZ’S MIAMI BUCKET LIST DISH:

Blackened Mahi with Mango Salsa at Golden Rule

WHY IT DESERVES TO BE ON THIS LIST

“As a native Miamian, my fish has to be super fresh–and Golden Rule never disappoints. For this dish, in particular, I love the interplay of the spicy blackened seasoning with the sweet tang of the mango salsa. And the fact that Mahi is an extra-lean source of protein doesn’t hurt, either!”

CHEF BUDDAH’S MIAMI BUCKET LIST DISH

The Babe Mac at Babe’s Meat & Counter

WHY IT DESERVES TO BE ON THIS LIST

“This Palmetto Bay deli is one of my go-to’s. This burger, in particular, is like a gourmet play on the most delicious Big Mac you’ve ever tried. The meat blend is perfection–well-cooked, simple, yet filling.”

CHEF EDDY’S MIAMI BUCKET LIST DISH

The Spicy Rigatoni Vodka at Miami Beach’s Carbone

WHY IT DESERVES TO BE ON THIS LIST

“There is a delicate balance between al dente pasta and pasta that simply sticks to your teeth. Carbone cooks their pasta to perfection, but that’s not all–their vodka sauce tastes homemade, just like someone’s grandma made it!”

CHEF ALEX’S MIAMI BUCKET LIST DISH

Roast Duck Pho at Pho Thang

WHY IT DESERVES TO BE ON THIS LIST

“The flavor of the pho at this no-frills eatery is incredible. There’s so much umami, and it’s really well balanced.”

As this list of our chef’s favorite restaurants in Miami proves, so-called “common” ingredients become something magical when cooked right.
